Loose Composts
Composts and Soil Conditioners
Loose organic carbon is the product of the manipulated, decomposition of organic materials by micro-organisms for the production of a humus-like end product termed compost. Composting is used to stabilise waste byproducts in order to improve their handling, health and biological characteristics and to generate soil amendments that improve soil physical, chemical and biological properties.
Carbon Ag offers a range of loose compost products suitable for most cropping needs and we also blend various composts to create a product to suit your needs.
These compost products are excellent sources of both macro-nutrients: nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K), and a range of micro-nutrients including zinc (Zn), sulfur (S), copper (Cu), magnesium (Mg), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), calcium (Ca) and chloride (Cl). They also return organic matter and other nutrients to the soil, building soil fertility, structure and moisture-holding capacity. The nutrients contained in compost products may not all be readily available. The value of compost N and P could be spread over two to three years, as nutrients become available to plants. Because compost products do not supply nutrients in the ideal ratios for plant needs, they are often best used in conjunction with an inorganic fertiliser program.
Used at suitable rates, compost products can contribute considerable value to farming systems.
