Low nutrient soils with poor cation exchange capacity, low organic carbon and low pH do not allow maximum utilisation and benefits from the application of synthetic fertilisers. Soil carbon improves the physical properties of soil and water holding capacity. Carbon is the essential element that aids plants in gaining full access to available nutrition when setting yield potential and continued nutritional health throughout the growth cycle. The plant’s fine root hairs embed and encapsulate themselves into the rich carbon and utilise the carbon source and other nutrition when required.
